The Mighty Schnoobin Jenkins

I’ve been playing World of Warcraft a bunch and as some of you might be aware, they just release the 3.0.2 patch preparing for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack. Among other things, two new features added were achievements and barber shops.

Achievements are pretty much what we all know and love from Xbox 360 games as well as games on Steam. Do something and get an award for it. Blizzard added 750 achievements to the game which should prove very fun to get. My favorite thus far is the Leeroy Jenkins achievement in memory of the one and only Leeroy Jenkins.

To get the achievement you have to go to that exact room and kill 50 whelps in 15 seconds. Thankfully I have an awesome guild so they brought me with them and kicked some major butt… the second time. The first time we went in we managed to actually break the server within that instance causing us all to get disconnected while our characters were violently destroyed by the whelps. The second attempt went much better. :)

The best part of the achievement, though, is not the points or the ability to say you have it. But from then on when someone looks at your character, it appends the last name of “Jenkins” to you, making sure one and all know that you have the achievement. It’s really quite fun.

The other feature I love is the barbershop. Finally they let you change the hair style, hair color, and facial hair of your character (for a price, of course). There’s also an achievement for doing this at least once. :) So I took Schnoobin Jenkins in there and got rid of the ugly red mop on his head and got his decked out with a sweet new do:

Pretty wicked, huh?

Schnoobin Jenkins is now a totally rocking level fifty-one frost mage. I’m still hoping to make it to seventy in time for Wrath of the Lich King, which is about a month away. With the triple experience from Refer-A-Friend I get while playing with my brother, it just might happen.

I love me some WoW and I really love how easy it is to tear through Hyjal and BT. Farming badges are also a piece of cake now, but there is a problem with WoW and a problem with you, Nick, that needs attention.

    1. To quote Bruce Pandolfini, rather Ben Ben Kingsley from Searching for Bobby Fischer, “It ruined Arbakov, and it’ll ruin you.” is a way of showing that speed chess is like crack. WoW is so much fun that it is hard to make time to dabble with my own games.

    2. You’re a freakin Gnome!! Come to the Horde my little friend. The Alliance whines too much and we get nerfed in battlegrounds because of this. Just kidding, buddy. I’m just glad you’re not a fire mage or a stinking warlock. Those are the hardest for my shadow priest to kill.

Keep up the posts and thanks for sharing the keyboard mouse combo that you bought recently. I just may have to sneak out and buy me a set.
